The Lebanon women's soccer team played tough against two of the top teams in the Mid-Willamette Conference last week, but dropped both games 5-0.

Corvallis handed the Warriors their second league loss on Oct. 13.

Lebanon trailed by just one goal at the half after the Spartans' Kacie Dalton scored off an assist from Lani Penner in the eighth minute.

Corvallis scored four second-half goals to put the game away.

"Defensively we're where we want to be," Lebanon coach Rusty Gorham said. "But our offensive production is down a little bit from last year."

Injuries have played a factor, Gorham said.

Junior midfielder Susan Evans tore her ACL earlier in the season and won't play again this year.

Rachel Fry, a senior forward, took an accidental elbow to the face against Corvallis and missed the rest of that game and the game against Crescent Valley on Oct. 16.

The Warriors allowed two first-half goals and three more in the second half in the 5-0 loss at home against the Raiders.

Lebanon keeper Erin Hudson made a couple of impressive saves in the loss.

"Each game she comes along and I'm seeing some improvement," Gorham said.

Both games were better than last year, when Corvallis beat Lebanon 6-0 and CV won 8-0.

The Warriors fell to 2-5-3 overall and 0-3 in the MWC.

They played at West Albany on Tuesday. Results weren't available by press time.

They play at Woodburn on Friday.

"We just need to continue to work hard and we'll be fine," Gorham said.
