District meet held May 12-13 at Western Oregon University

The Lebanon men's track team beat host Corvallis on May 6 and the women lost in a final tuneup before the district meet.

The Warrior men edged the Spartans 75-70 and the women fell 76-69.

Next up is the district meet, held May 12-13 at Western Oregon University.

Results were not available as of press time.

The 3A, 4A and 5A state championships will be held May 22-23 at the University of Oregon in Eugene.

The Warriors men's team was the 5A state runner-up in 2007.

The top two finishers in each event, including the relays, qualify for the state meet.

Athletes can earn a spot at state by meeting qualifying times and distances, which can be found at www.osaa.org.

Lebanon's Brendon Richards continued his domination of the hurdles events, taking first place in both the 110- and 300-meter hurdles against Corvallis.

Richards also was part of the Warriors 400-meter relay team that finished with a time of 44.80 seconds. Tyler Robinson, L.T. Avants and Marcus Greenly were the other members of the relay team.

Other winners for the men were Greenly, who won the long jump, Jake Flanigan (shot put), Brad Stagnoli (pole vault) and Flint Yoder (triple jump).

Sierra Engler and Susan Evans won two events apiece for the Warrior women, but it wasn't enough to beat Corvallis.

Engler took first in the 300-meter hurdles and the 400-meter run, while Evans took the title in the long jump and triple jump.
