Eight Lebanon youths have been selected as participants of the Pop Warner Pacific Northwest region's 2007 All-American Regional Scholars team. Thirty five athletes from Linn Benton Pop Warner Football and Cheer programs were selected.

From Lebanon, participants are: Clifford Hargis, Benjamin Vorderstrasse, Jason Maddox, Jordan Tunstill and Tyler O'Malley (first team); and Taylor Ann Eilers, Zachary Johnson and Tre Larson (second team).

They will be honored on March 15 at the Pacific Northwest Annual Scholastic Banquet in Santa Clara, Calif. As All-American Regional Scholars, these students are eligible to be selected for the National All-American team.

All Pop Warner participants in the fifth grade and higher with a grade point average of 96 percent or higher are eligible to apply for the award. During the application review process a total of 100 points may be earned, 85 for scholastics and 15 for community involvement and achievements. Student athletes recognized as a Pop Warner All-American Scholar are amongst the top one percent of all Pop Warner participants.

Nationally, 35 football players and 25 cheerleaders, from each grade level, are selected from the collective Pop Warner regions to be recognized as first team National All-American Scholars. First Team National All-American Scholar recipients in the eighth and higher are eligible for scholarships.

Little Scholar All-Americans will be announced on April 1.
