Lebanon High School graduate Brent Trask intends to play baseball for George Fox University in Newberg for the 2008-09 year.

Trask caught the eye of George Fox coaches at the beginning of the summer, when he was playing for the Gresham Mountaineers.

The Mountaineers are an affiliate of the Corvallis Knights.

Trask is looking forward to playing for George Fox.

"I feel really good," he said. "They've got a really good team coming back."

The Bruins return essentially all of their starting players from last season, with the notable exception of their catcher, making it a "perfect" situation for Trask.

"I really like the school, too," Trask said. He's majoring in secondary education and hopes to teach high school health and P.E.

Trask graduated from LHS in 2006. He then competed for Linn-Benton Community College, where he was voted honorable mention all-NWAACC his freshman year and first team all-NWAACC for the South region last season. He also helped the Roadrunners to an overall record of 32-17 and a share of the South region NWAACC conference title.

The Bruins were NCAA Division III champions in 2004 and have won the Northwest Conference Championship eight times since 1997. Last season, the team had an overall record of 28-14 and advanced to the second round of the Division III West Regional.

First-year head coach Marty Hunter will oversee the Bruins this season. Hunter has been on the George Fox coaching staff for five seasons and served as associate head coach for the past three.
