The Warrior volleyball team wrapped up their regular season by clinching the Mid-Willamette Conference title and the number-one seed from the league going into the state playoffs.
On Oct. 24, the Warriors played Dallas in a four-game match. Though hitter Brie Barton suffered a minor injury that caused her to leave the game, the Lebanon players kept their poise and won. Game scores were 25-23, 21-25, 25-21, 15-9.
Thursday, the team took on Corvallis in another away game. The match was a close one, but the end result was another win for the Warriors. Game scores were 25-23, 23-25, 25-23, 26-24.
Lebanon's final league record was 13-1.
Jorden Burrows had 48 assists, seven blocks and four aces in the win against Corvallis. Blair Healy contributed 18 kills and 11 digs in the victory. Healy has played right side for most of the season, but was in as an outside hitter against the Spartans.
“The team stepped up," said head coach Adam Ellis. “All the seniors stepped up."
Ellis was particularly happy with the play of Healy and Courtney Lamb, who he said played their best match of the year. Burrows also impressed with her performance and leadership.
The Warriors will host a first-round playoff game at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 4 against either Bend or Glencoe.
Ellis said that he feels confident facing either of those teams, and that he expects the match to put Lebanon one step closer to a state championship. He hopes that a large and supportive Lebanon crowd will turn out to watch as the Warriors try to move one step closer to the state finals in Portland.
“We pretty much go in with the same game plan," he said. “Go in to win."
