The Lebanon cross country teams hosted the second meet this season at Waterloo Park on Oct. 14.

The Warriors competed against West Albany, Crescent Valley and Silverton.

Crescent Valley was the women's team champion with 22 points, followed by West Albany (51), Lebanon (78) and Silverton (87).

Sophomore Marli Corbett led the way for the Warriors, finishing 15th in 23 minutes, 33 seconds.

Her time may have been better had it not been for a wardrobe malfunction.

"Her shoe came untied halfway through the race and it caused her to kind of limp along the rest of the way," coach Emily Latimer said.

Anna Ma came in right behind Corbett, taking 16th place in 23:42.

A group of Lebanon runners followed close behind.

Heather Matz came in 18th in 23:49, Aimee Crumley was 20th in 24:05 and Monica Waung was 21st in 24:30.

"They were all running close together," Latimer said.

Latimer said the women help push each other to go faster.

"It's great because they're running together and helping each other," Latimer said. "If (Corbett) has a good race, then everybody else has a good race."

Stephanie Hilpert was 49th in 28:37 and freshman Victoria Ferguson was 65th in 34:14.

"We have five core girls that need to be healthy by districts," Latimer said. "If they're healthy, then we have a pretty good chance at having a good showing."

The Lebanon women took sixth at the district meet last year and Latimer said the goal is to take fourth this year.

The district meet is Oct. 31 at Crystal Lake Park in Corvallis.

The men's team finished last.

Cody Crumley was the top Lebanon finisher, taking 20th in 19:24.

Christian Upmeyer notched a career-PR, taking 22nd in 19:34. Craig Trask also had a career-best time of 20:09, good enough for 31st place.

"We're starting to get some boys under 20 minutes, which is exciting," Latimer said.

Sophomore Enio Marin was 36th in 21:00.

"It's been tough for him because he's had some knee injuries," Latimer said. "He's a really talented runner, he's just not 100 percent."

Andrew Mason was 38th in 21:08, a season-PR.

Josh Carle and Lucas Markert had an exciting finish.

The pair raced each other to the finish line, with Markert finishing three-tenths of a second faster.

They both finished in 21:10.

"I like it when they compete with each other because they run faster," Latimer said.

Rounding out Lebanon's scores were Tyler Upmeyer (44th, 21:51), Ed McGehee (47th, 22:08), Andrew Robinson (53rd, 23:01) and Daniel Ferguson (68th, 26:44).

Lebanon has just one race left before districts.

The Warriors will compete against Woodburn, Dallas and West Albany today at Teloh Calapooia Park near Linn-Benton Community College.
