Barnyard Boogie this weekend

Posted: Tuesday, July 18, 2006 5:00 pm

Six big name country acts will boogie down on stage at the Linn County Fair July 20-23. The fair promises to be an entertaining event that fits with this year's theme of "Barnyard Boogie."

Cowboys, cowgirls, monster trucks, clowns, ponies, petting zoos, tractor shows, pirates, wild horse races and live music are just part of the fair this year. The usual carnival, 4-H and FFA events make it a country affair.

Admission is $7 for adults, $5 for youth and seniors. Parking is $2.

Admission is free for everyone on Thursday, July 20.

Also on Thursday, from noon to 5 p.m., the KHSO Antique and Collectibles Appraisals Show will take place.

The day is also "Tough Enough to Wear Pink" Day. Local sponsors will donate $1 for every person at the fair wearing pink in support of the Soroptomist Club and the new Women's Imaging Center.

Thursday is a homecoming of sorts for Western Railroad, the backup band for the late Chris LeDoux. The band has come into its own and will play the Linn County Fair Main Stage at 8:30 p.m.

On Friday, July 21, Neal McCoy will shine onstage right after cowboys challenge the best of the bulls in the Wild West Bull Riding Bull Bash.

McCoy's hits include "They're Playing Our Song" and "You Gotta Love That."

On Saturday at 8:30 p.m., bands Restless Heart, Black Hawk and Little Texas will give audiences great harmonies and guitar strumming.

On Sunday at 2:30 p.m., Captain U.S. A., Lucky Logger, Freak Show and the Bi-Mart Advantage will make appearances at the Motor Sports and Monster Trucks Show.

The Dennis Reis: No Dust Tour will be at the fair all weekend. It's a horse lover's delight to watch Reis training and entertaining with his horses, and offering solutions to tough questions about them. A colt accepting the saddle for the first time, herd dynamics and a Magical Ride are just part of this event in the Calapooia Arena.

Pre-sale carnival and "Tough Enough to Wear Pink" T-shirts and bracelets may be purchased at Coastal Farm, Northwest Community Credit Union, Weyerhauser Employee Credit Union and Willamette Community Bank.

For more information about the events call 926-4314 or visit www.linncountyfair.com.
