LBCC announces new Board of Education officers

Linn-Benton Community College's Board of Education selected new officers for the 2008-09 year at its annual organization meeting held in July.

Ron Mason, representative for rural Benton County zone 5, was elected chair, replacing Hal Brayton from Lebanon zone 4. Dick Running, Albany zones 2-3, was elected vice chair.

Mason, a Corvallis resident, has been on the LBCC Board since 2005. He retired from LBCC after 26 years of teaching math. He holds a

bachelor's and master's degree from the University of Southern Florida.

Running is an Albany resident and has been on the LBCC Board since 2007. He has been a certified public accountant since 1970, and established his own practice in 1987. He holds a bachelor's degree from Pacific Lutheran University and a master's degree from the University of Denver.

The LBCC Board of Education governs Linn-Benton Community College. Linn and Benton county residents elect the seven-member board, with members serving four-year terms. Other board members are Janice Horner, Claus Sass, Brayton, Tom Wogaman and Ann Brodie.
