Posted: Wednesday, December 19, 2007 12:00 am

Day-use passes good for 12 months at selected Oregon state parks are now on sale at a $20 holiday discount price.

The passes, which usually sell for $25, are good through Dec. 31, 2008, at 26 parks.

Visitors without passes must buy a $3 daily pass at a park entrance booth or vending machine. Both 12-month and 24-month passes are sold at Oregon Parks and Recreation Department (OPRD) offices, some state park friends' group stores, Joe's stores throughout Oregon, and selected local businesses and chamber of commerce visitor centers. A list of vendors is posted at //www.oregonstateparks.org/dayuse_permit_vendors.php.

The passes and other gift items, including OPRD state parks calendars, also are sold by phone through the State Parks Information Center, 1-800-551-6949.

Gift certificates for any dollar amount also may be purchased through the Info Center. Gift certificates may be used at campsites at any state park or for day-use pass.

Day-use pass customers must buy extra vehicle passes at the same time they purchase 12-month and 24-month passes. Extra vehicle pass prices are $5 with a 12-month pass and $10 with a 24-month pass.
