To the editor:
In the Sept. 30 issue the headlines read: Larry Houchin, former Lebanon municipal court judge, was released from Polk County Jail on Sept. 25. He served 23 days, 16 hours in jail after pleading guilty on Sept. 1 to four counts of sex-related crimes: two counts of first-degree official misconduct, one count of third-degree sexual abuse and one count of sexual harassment. Houchin was sentenced to 30 days in jail.
Thirty days in jail? Thirty lousy days in jail! In other news in Linn County: 18-year-old male high school graduate gets 30 months in prison for sex with his 15-year-old girlfriend while in high school.
Oh and did I mention he is a sex offender now like Larry Houchin? The deal the prosecutor made him was take 30 months in prison as a gift of the justice system or go to trial and lose and get 10 years in prison? My oh my ain't justice sweet? By the way how do you spell justice? G-o-o-d 'ol b-o-y?
