Melvin E. Schluckebier, 70, of Lebanon, died July 7, 2009, at Samaritan Lebanon Community Hospital.
A private family gathering will be held.
He was born to Fred and Anna (Frankenbach) Schluckebier on Oct. 13, 1938, in Ely, Mo.
In 1945, he moved with his family to Oregon. As a child, he worked on his family's dairy farms in Walterville and Molalla.
He graduated from Springfield High School.
Mr. Schluckebier worked as a carpenter in both residential and commercial construction.
He has lived in the Lebanon area for the last 35 years.
Mr. Schluckebier was a member of the Lebanon Moose Lodge.
He is survived by sons Kalvin Ross and Steve Schluckebier, both of Lebanon; daughter Kathy Duval of Willamina; sisters Virginia Pflantz of Ely, Mo., Florence Schluckebier of Lebanon and Lois Lohmann of St. Louis, Mo.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
His brothers Austin, Orville and Curtis, and his sister Shirley died before he did.
Huston-Jost Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
