Ida (Carson) Leeper, 91, of Lebanon, died on Friday, Aug. 15, at Samaritan Lebanon Community Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 23, at Huston-Jost Funeral Home. Burial will be at Lebanon I.O.O.F. Cemetery.

She was born Feb. 22, 1912, in Stine, Nev., the daughter of Joseph Clair and Laura Hannah (Hansen) Carson. In the summer of 1912 the family left Nevada for Oregon by wagon. They settled on a ranch in the Yachats Valley, now known as the Carson Valley Ranch.

She was educated in the upper Yachats schools. After graduating, she attended and graduated from the University of Utah Normal School in Salt Lake City, Utah.

She returned to her home in Yachats in 1932 and taught in her first school.

On Sept. 16, 1933, she met and married Oscar Murray Leeper in Yachats. They moved to Camp Angel near Waldport.

In 1953, the Leepers moved to the Sutherland Valley, where she taught in the Oakland, Umpqua and Sutherland Schools.

In 1963 she received her B.S. degree from the University of Oregon.

Her husband retired in 1972 and she followed, retiring in 1974 after 35 years of teaching. They moved to Lebanon.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many capacities.

Her husband, Oscar Murray Leeper, died on Jan. 25, 1999.

She is survived by sons Leonard Leeper of Berthoud, Colo. and Bill Leeper of Newport; daughters Laura Leonard of Ramah, N.M. and Barbara Hatch of Sequim, Wash.; brothers Joseph Carson of Salem, Raymond Carson of Beaverton and Ralph Carson of Springfield; sisters Blanche Simpson of Salem and Eva Santa Maria of Chelan, Wash.; 13 grandchildren and many great and great-great-grandchildren.

Son Oscar Murray Leeper, brother Leonard Carson, sister Zelma Lockwood, and grandson Mike Leonard all died before her.
