The Lebanon Public Library will celebrate National Library Week from April 11 to 18.

This year organizers are encouraging people to get reacquainted with the classics.

The National Endowment for the Arts has published a list for the "Big Read Initiative," and patrons have been asked to vote for their favorite classic from that list. The winning title will be chosen on April 20. Additionally, a prize drawing will be held in May,

during a book discussion of the most popular titles.

The library is also participating in the Oregon Reads program. The Lebanon Library is teaming with the Oregon State Library and other libraries across the state to encourage patrons to all read the same book.

The book "Stubborn Twig" has been chosen for adults. The book for junior and young adult readers is "Bat 6." The easy book is "Apples to Oregon." A variety of activities associated will be held.

The next "Stubborn Twig" event will be at 4 p.m. on April 4 at the Senior Center. The award-winning documentary "A Family Gathering," will be shown, followed by a discussion of the book.
