Students from Pioneer School will spend Friday cleaning up in local parks and the Pioneer Cemetery. It is their annual "Day of Caring."
They also will hold a free car wash at Lebanon Shop 'n' Kart from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
"No donations will be accepted as this is our way of telling our community members 'thank you' for supporting our school this year,"
said organizer Roseanne Hartness.
The fourth through eighth grade students will be at Booth, Bob Smith and Had Irvine parks and at Camp Tadmor between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.
The Day of Caring is financed by the school's annual silent auction, which raised $3,400. It was held on April 11. The proceeds are used for tools, bark, flowers and other general supplies as well as T-shirts for the kids.
Hartness suggests that residents who see the students on their service learning projects wave or honk to let them know you support them. They'll be wearing red T-shirts.
