The Juan Young Trust has made a $5,000 grant to the Boys & Girls Club of Lebanon to enhance the club's after school program.
The mission of the Juan Young Trust is "To provide grants to 501 (c) (3) organizations that promote the health, education and welfare of children under 21 years old, in the state of Oregon."
The grant monies will be utilized to provide scholarship support for youth members unable to pay the $20 membership fee, to provide incentives for youth participants who successfully complete program components, and to purchase equipment and supplies for high-yield learning activities.
The club currently has 1,856 members, ages 6 to 18, with an average daily attendance in the after school program of about 300 youth.
The 2008-2009 after school program will take place at the main club, 305 S. Fifth St. and at the Seven Oak Middle School satellite site. Both programs are scheduled to begin on Sept. 8.
Membership applications are available at the club Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. or online at www.bgclebanon.org.
