Girl Scouts of Santiam Council is holding a "Council Celebration" event for all past and current Girl Scouts from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sept. 13 at the Linn County Fairgrounds in Albany. The event will celebrate the old and new and introduce the new Girl Scouts of Oregon and SW Washington Council, which will realign the councils in Oregon into one as of Oct. 1, 2008.

The event will include a display of historical uniforms, handbooks, scrapbooks and pictures from throughout the council's jurisdiction, including Camp Whispering Winds and each of the three program centers in Newport, Lebanon and Albany.

Activities will include crafts, singing, a scavenger hunt and a special "visit" from Juliette Low, founder of Girl Scouts. Scouts will have the opportunity to create a tile for the Santiam Celebration project that will be installed at Camp Whispering Winds. The registration form is available online at www.girlscoutsofsantiam.org.
