Feb. 6: Sherrie Sprenger, a member of the Lebanon School Board, was appointed to the vacant District 17 seat in the Oregon House. She was sworn in as the short mid-term session began on Feb. 1.

Feb. 6: Kacey Setzer was named Youth of the Year for the Lebanon Boys & Girls Club on Jan. 29. She won a $500 scholarship and will represent the local club in the state contest.

Feb. 6: Will Tucker of Lacomb has thrown his hat in the race for Linn County Commissioner. He will run for the seat being vacated by Cliff Wooten.

Feb. 13: Members of the 2008 Strawberry Festival Court are Hannah Patton, Kaitlyn Stone, Samantha Nervino, Amanda Willis and Megan Tucker.

Feb. 13: Dan Thackaberry announced he will run for the Democratic nomination for state representative in District 17.

Feb 13: Bo Yates, the Activities Director for Lebanon schools for a year and a half, announced he might sue the school district because Superintendent Jim Robinson took that job away from him.

Feb. 13: Sierra Engler of the LHS swim team, earned a spot in the state meet at the Mid-Willamette Conference Championships. LHS coach Gus Arzner was named men's coach of the year in the league.

Feb. 13: Six Lebanon wrestlers have qualified to compete in the state 5A championships. They are Tye Dickerson, Amy Bloom, Dalton Urrutia, Craig Trask, Joel Aranda and Forrest Lammert.

Feb. 20: Students in Lebanon schools will eat beef again because Terry Cowart, manager of Lebanon Auction Yard, contacted the Oregon Beef Council for a couple of days worth. Beef has been off the menu since the U.S. Department of Agriculture put a hold on meat from a major beef distributor three weeks ago due to safety violations.

Feb 20: Several Warrior wrestlers competed at the 5A state championships last weekend. Craig Trask, who took fifth in the 135-lb. classification, was the highest placer. Lebanon also was represented by Forrest Lammert, Dalton Urrutia, Amy Bloom, Joel Aranda and Tye Dickerson.

Feb. 27: Several local citizens have formed a political action committee to monitor school board actions. Members say some school board members allow personal agendas to override educational priorities.

Feb. 27: The LHS women's basketball team came close to a berth in the state playoffs, but was denied when it lost to Corvallis on Feb. 21.
