A bicyclist hit in the intersection of Main and Milton streets shortly before noon on Monday escaped with minor injuries.

Robert Edward Villeneuve, 27, was eastbound in the crosswalk on his bike when he was hit by a southbound vehicle that went through a red light, said Lebanon police officer Banson Kat.

The driver of the red Chevy Sprint, Joe Stogsdill, 64, said he thought he had a green light, Kat said. Stogsdill was traveling slower than the speed limit.

The car hit the bike, then Villeneuve, who hit the windshield, shattering it, and rolled off the hood. Kat said Villeneuve rolled himself away from the car and was helped up by bystanders. Workers in a nearby business brought out an ice pack for him.

The impact occurred in the right hand lane.

Villeneuve was transported by ambulance to Samaritan Lebanon Community Hospital with injuries that Fire Chief Perry Palmer described as "not life-threatening." According to a hospital spokesperson, Villeneuve was treated and released within a few hours.
