Lebanon's Salvation Army has openings for new volunteers. Training sessions will be arranged to meet the schedules of new volunteers.
Workers spend two-and-a-half hours twice a week at Lebanon's First Presbyterian Church's Harden Hall, finding how best to meet the needs of local people in need. Thelma Johnson, coordinator for the local group, said that the Salvation Army can provide some assistance for most emergencies except food, and that is available through several Lebanon food banks.
Volunteers interview people in need from 1 to 3:30 p.m. every Wednesday and Friday. People can volunteer to help either or both days.
