They fight fires and they fight cancer.
Team "Firefighters fighting for a cure," made up of Lebanon volunteer firefighters, will take part in the Relay for Life of Lebanon on June 27 and 28.
Team members are: Michael Kinkade, Dave Butler, Jay Adamson, Jacob Browning, Mike Harlan, Dan Hartman, Chad Jones, Erin Nunes, Kyle Robertson and Amy Santana.
This isn't the first year the firefighters have participated in the event, which is a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. Kinkade started the division team a few years ago. At the 2007 event, the team won "best baton" for carrying a fire axe around the track.
The team held a 50/50 raffle at Willamette Speedway on May 17, and raised $651.50. Combined with several other donations the team received, the evening brought in a total of $970.
Relay for Life of Lebanon takes place at the Lebanon High School track. Events start at 6 p.m. on Friday, June 27 with the opening ceremony and survivors' lap. At 10 p.m. is the luminaria ceremony, which honors cancer survivors and victims.
The closing ceremony for the relay is at 11:30 a.m. on June 28.
