LPD baffled by mystery explosion

Lebanon police officers investigated a loud explosion heard early Saturday morning in the police dispatch office in the 0-99 block of E. Maple Street as well as near the corner of Main and Milton streets.

The explosion occurred about 12:24 a.m. on Jan. 3.

Police dispatchers also received calls from several individuals who heard the explosion. One caller reported seeing a large black cloud.

Some of the callers said they had heard screaming in the area of Milton, Hiatt, Berry, Jennings and Grove streets.

Officers investigated but were unable to pinpoint the source, Sgt. Det. Kevin Martinez said.

No damage had been reported as of Tuesday morning.
