A Lebanon man fatally shot himself Saturday afternoon while handling a revolver, according to the Linn County Sheriff's Office.
Gregory Wayne Fisher, 25, was visiting a residence at 4170 S. Santiam Hwy. in Lebanon at about 5:20 p. m. when he found a holstered .22-caliber revolver on the back of the chair he was sitting in.
Witnesses at the single-wide manufactured home told deputies that Fisher removed the weapon from the holster and accidentally fired the weapon into his lower abdomen.
Medics and personnel from the Lebanon Fire Department responded to the scene and transported Fisher to Samaritan Lebanon Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The bullet severed his femoral artery, according to the sheriff's office.
