The East Linn Christian Academy class of 2008 graduated 18 students last Saturday, three with special honors. The class has one valedictorian, Tina Mathai, and two salutatorians, Luke Miner and Kathryn Ellis.
Valedictorian Tina Mathai, daughter of Dr. M. and Mariamma Mathai of Lebanon, graduated with a 4.0 grade point average. She plans to attend George Fox University for premedical studies, and wants to be a missionary doctor to India, the Middle East and the inner cities of the United States after completing medical school.
She was involved in National Honor Society, made the honor roll four years, was a Junior Rotarian, was named student of the year three times, served as ASB secretary and was on Worship Team. She was in the honors choir and leadership class, earned an honors diploma, and was involved in school plays.
Salutatorian Kathryn Ellis of Lebanon is the daughter of Robert and Ann Ellis, and Suzie Amato. She graduated with a 3.96 GPA, and plans to attend Western Oregon University to earn her degree in education. She was a Junior Rotarian, played volleyball for two years, was on Worship Team for two years and sang in the honors choir for two years.
Salutatorian Luke Miner, the son of Mark and Julene Miner of Lebanon, finished ELCA with a 3.96 GPA. He plans to attend the School of Supernatural Ministries of Redding, Calif. He played varsity basketball for two years, was ASB vice president, made the honor roll four years, was a Junior Rotarian and earned an honors diploma.
