Lebanon Chamber Orchestra presents its eighth annual concert as a gift to the community at 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 6 at the Lebanon High School auditorium. Director Jean Marshall will also take the group to Willamette Manor on Monday, Dec. 10 at 7:30 p.m. Both performances are free.

The orchestra, made up of musicians from around the valley, will perform several selections, including Handel's "Hornpipe" from "Water Music," "Waltzing Cat" by Leroy Anderson, Robert Shumann's "Traumerai," and "Summertime" by George Gershwin.

"This is a nice piece. It adds a little jazz, a little warmth to the winter," Marshall explained.

The second half of the event will focus on "Christmas Goes Baroque," five Christmas carols juxtaposed against five baroque numbers. Other pieces are "I'm Getting Nuttin' for Christmas," "We Need a Little Christmas," and a holiday salute with 10 traditional carols bound together by the "Alleluia Chorus."

Members of the Chamber Orchestra are concert master Joel Gunselman, first violinists Linda Shaeffer, Samara Wasson, Melanie Ogilvie, Christy Tanner, Sarah McCraw, Celia Barreto and Lydia O'Brien. Second violinists are Camella Yordy, Bonnie Lee, Austin Goins, Barry Bilderback, Max Dysle, Jorian Bruslind, Steve Halik and Cecelia Hetrick.

Cara Bowen and Anna Stone play flute. Violas are played by Diana Evans, Marilyn Tyler, Kathleen Coddington and Angela Friesen. Celloists are Cheryl Bowen, Patty Baker, and Justin Matthews, and bass players are Diane McCraw and Chris Walsh. Kayla Mackie plays percussion.
