LHS honors valedictorians, salutatorian

Lebanon High School honored eight valedictorians and one salutatorian this year

Eric Bowser

Valedictorian Eric Bowser's plans include attending Linn-Benton Community College through Beyond LHS for a year to get an associate of art Oregon Transfer.

Then he will transfer to Corban College, where he wants to earn a degree in Christian Ministry and teaching. He said he plans to serve a long-term mission in a foreign country before choosing a lifetime career.

His parents are LeeAnne Bowser and Jeff Bowser. He has three brothers: Mark, 19, Steven, 16, and Jason, 7.

In his high school career, Bowser participated in first robotics, peer court, youth group, Junior Rotarian, Beyond LHS and Aspire. He graduates with a 4.0 GPA in Information Systems.

Logan Burt

Valedictorian Logan Burt plans to attend George Fox University next fall. He plans to major in music performance and to make a living as a singer.

His parents are Kevin and Kathleen Burt. He has three sisters: Brianne Maple, 25, Kaitlyn Burt, 22, and Delaney Burt, 13.

Burt played varsity tennis, was president of the National Honor Society and editor of the Lebanon High School yearbook.

He graduates with a 4.0 GPA from Information Systems.

Sierra Engler

Valedictorian Sierra Engler plans to attend Eastern Oregon University in La Grande.

She said she'll probably earn a degree in math or science, but is not sure what she will do with it.

Her parents are Chris and Lorlee Engler. She has two sisters: Kalee, 14, and Piper, 9; and two brothers: Wyatt, 12, and Owen, 10.

While in high school, Engler participated in cross country, swimming and track. She was active in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and as a volunteer.

She graduates with a 4.0 GPA in Physical Systems.

Sage Gerson

Valedictorian Sage Gerson will leave LHS with a 4.0 GPA from Information Systems and head to the University of Chicago.

She intends to study English, with an environmental science or film minor. She hopes to earn a doctorate in English and become a professor, where she can teach others the art and importance of communicating.

Her parents are Jean and Eric Gerson. She has two sisters: Peri, 16, and Bryn, 10.

She was actively involved in high school, including varsity tennis and soccer, National Honor Society, Strawberry Court princess, drama club, Key Club and writer for the Warrior Spirit.

Mattea Godsey

Valedictorian Mattea Godsey will attend the Art Institute of Portland in the fall, where she wants to earn a bachelor's degree in graphic design.

She hopes to use her education to help others by designing for small businesses and nonprofit organizations.

Her parents are Dan Godsey and Dana Newkirk. She has two sisters: Mandy Andrews, 23, and Missy Godsey, 19; and one brother, Marshall Godsey, 15.

While in high school, Godsey was yearbook editor, played soccer and participated in National Honor Society.

She graduates with a 4.0 GPA from Information Systems.

Valedictorian Emily King plans to attend the University of Oregon to study politics and law.

She hopes to become a lawyer and eventually a senator.

King's parents are Jeff and Edda King. She has two brothers: Ryan, 27, and Wyatt, 20.

She was actively involved in high school sports and leadership, including soccer, basketball, Associated Student Body treasurer and National Honor Society.

She also was a volunteer at Samaritan Lebanon Community Hospital and a member of STARS (Students Today Aren't Ready for Sex). She was crowned Strawberry queen in May.

She graduates with a 4.0 GPA from Social Systems.

Jessica Putnam

Valedictorian Jessica Putnam hopes to help children learn as an elementary school teacher.

She will start her education at LBCC and transfer to Oregon State University.

Putnam said she would love to come back and teach in Lebanon, or at least a small town in Oregon like it.

Putnam sang in the Lebanon High School choir, and participated in the Underage Drinking Youth Council and Peer Court.

She graduates with a 4.0 GPA from Living Systems.

Her parents are Pamala and Jim Putnam. She has two sisters: Amy, 15, and Sarah, 13.

Annie Seeno

Valedictorian Annie Seeno plans to attend Portland State University and pursue some sort of biology degree.

She said she doesn't know exactly what she wants to focus on, but knows she wants to end up as a researcher.

She has participated in the National Honor Society and Beyond LHS. She graduates with a 4.0 GPA from Social Systems.

Her parents are Vince and Linda Seeno. She has a brother Michael, 19, and a sister Claire Lundberg, 30.

Tedi Massey

Salutatorian Tedi Massey plans to earn a master's degree in journalism at the University of Oregon.

She hopes to become a novelist, opening a small shop in downtown Eugene where she plans to sell her work.

She believes journalism will broaden her horizons in the meantime.

Massey's parents are Brandi McClary and Jake Massey. She has two sisters: KC Massey, 15, and McKenna Massey, 10.

She is the editor-in-chief of the Warrior Spirit and a member of the National Honor Society, and graduated with a 4.0 GPA in Information Systems.
