Partners for Progress, the Lebanon downtown association, will sponsor a Farmer's Market this summer.

The group's Promotions Committee is looking for vendors.

The market will be held on Ash Street between Main and Second streets every Thursday from May 21 through Sept. 24. Hours will be 3 to 7 p.m.

The market will be juried; that is, vendors will be screened to be sure they meet the requirements and rules for the market, including licensing.

All items sold must be produced or grown by the vendors or produced using at least 75 percent recycled goods. Crafts will be accepted only if they meet the above criteria. Examples include woven baskets from home grown reeds and birdhouses made of recycled lumber.

Vendors will not be allowed to sell products purchased for resale or imported produce.

Meat and raw milk will not be allowed.

Vendor booths may be reserved for a week, a month, or a season.

Partners also encourages downtown businesses to stay open for business until 7 p.m. on those days.

Nancy Chlarson, president of Partners and the owner of Quality Llama Products, said the group hopes to start with 10 to 20 vendors - selling plants, produce, baked goods and home-produced crafts such as goat milk, soap and fiber art from homegrown sheep - and grow from there.

In addition, sponsorships are available by the week, the month or the season. Chlarson said sponsorships provide great promotional opportunities for businesses and are tax deductible.
