A woman was stabbed and killed on Oct. 23 in Brownsville.
The incident took place at about 3 p.m. on 35288 Blakely Ave., and involved Josh Shaddon, 31, and his mother, Gerlene A. Thorne, 48. Both lived at the home.
When the emergency call came in to the Linn County Sheriff's Office, it was reported that the victim had been shot, which was later found as false.
An autopsy was conducted on Oct. 24, and the results showed Thorne had been stabbed "more than once" and died from those injuries, according to the sheriff's office.
After the incident, Shaddon reportedly left the scene in a green Chevrolet Tahoe with three children. A deputy responding to the incident spotted a vehicle matching the suspect vehicle description on Brownsville Road just north of the Brownsville city limits. The deputy took Shaddon into custody.
Two of the boys, ages 2 and 4, were sons of Shaddon and were taken into custody by their mother.
The third, age 6, was his nephew and was also returned to his mother.
The children were not harmed.
Shaddon has been charged with murder and is lodged in the Linn County Jail. His security has been set at $300,000.
The investigation is continuing but no other arrests are expected at this time, according to the sheriff's office.
Fisher Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements of the victim.
