Emily King and Colin McHill of Lebanon were nominated for the honor of being Linn County's Junior First Citizens for 2008.
The pair are two of 16 high school seniors up for the award. The winners - one male and one female - were named at the Albany Rotary Club Luncheon yesterday. Results were not available at press time, but will be published in the Nov. 12 issue of the Lebanon Express.
King, 17, has been active with the Keystone Club, the Boys & Girls Club of Lebanon, Girls State, Smart Moves and S.O.L.V. She is the daughter of Jeff and Edda King of Lebanon.
She participated in soccer and basketball at Lebanon High School, receiving the scholar athlete award seven times. She maintains a 4.0 GPA.
King has volunteered with Samaritan Lebanon Community Hospital, Relay for Life and Safety Town camp and is a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Lebanon.
King said she'd like to attend a small private school in Oregon and then go to law school.
McHill has been active in football, music programs, student government and his school's news broadcast.
He is the son of Thomas and Eileen McHill of Lebanon.
McHill has lettered three times in football, has received the scholar athlete award and maintains a 3.69 GPA.
He plays guitar, bass guitar, piano and drums in multiple school and church groups. He has lettered all four years in his school's Jazz Band.
McHill has been elected to student government offices for three years and currently serves as student body president.
A member of the First United Methodist Church of Lebanon, McHill hopes to earn degrees in music technology and production and eventually produce music compositions for films.
