Three malnourished horses have been put in foster care facilities after Linn County deputies executed a search warrant in Scio on Aug. 9.
On July 30, the sheriff's office received a tip that a horse located at 37890 Robinson Dr. in Scio was not being cared for properly. After investigating, deputies found that seven horses were staying in a pasture less than two acres in size. Four of the horses appeared healthy, but the remaining three were malnourished and in poor condition.
Two geldings and a mare were seized by the sheriff's office after being examined by a veterinarian. Two of the horses have been taken to Lighthouse Farm Sanctuary in Scio. The third is at a different foster care facility.
The three owners of the horses were arrested for second-degree animal neglect. Tammy Mae Adair-Snyder, 44, Mark Kevin Mask, 46, and Walter Lee Eaton, 38, all from Scio, were taken to the Linn County Jail, where they were booked and released.
The Sanctuary has put the horses on a light diet of grass hay to help them recover slowly from their malnourished physical condition.
