Crash on Highway 20 sends elderly woman to Portland hospital

Three people were injured, one seriously, in a traffic collision at 3:21 p.m. May 24 at Highway 20 and Waterloo Drive.

According to the Oregon State Police, the driver of a 1994 Dodge van was turning westbound from Waterloo Drive towards Lebanon onto Highway 20 when it collided with a1996 Ford F150 pickup, also traveling on the highway towards Lebanon.

Trena Marie Gallardo, 39, of Lebanon, turned in front of the pickup driven by Harry Aslak Anderson, 86, of Sweet Home. His passenger was Dorothy C. Anderson, 84. All three were taken to Samaritan Lebanon Community Hospital with minor injuries, treated and released.

According to police, Dorothy Anderson returned to the hospital later with complaints of pain. After additional medical tests, it was determined she had severe internal injuries. She was taken by an air-ambulance to a Portland hospital for further evaluation.

The accident is still under investigation.
