Voters responding to the Lebanon Express online poll last week were narrowly divided over what they picked as the top story in Lebanon for 2008.

The announcement that a medical school would open in Lebanon got 24 percent of the vote. The investigation of the Lebanon High School resource officer's relationship with a student garnered 23 percent.

The resignation of superintendent Jim Robinson was third, with 15 percent, followed by the arson fire at the Pregnancy Alternatives Center (13 percent) and the declaration of an "academic emergency" at LHS (11 percent).

Ten percent thought the fire at the Champion mill site was the top story of 2008 and 5 percent voted for "a different story."

No one voted for the school board recall.

The answer options were taken from the most read stories of the year at www.lebanon-express.com, a list that was topped by the investigation of Officer Randleman.

The poll had sixty-two responses between Dec. 31 and Jan. 7.

This week's poll question is, "What is your New Year's resolution?"
