An early morning crash Saturday lead to the death of an Alsea woman.
The crash occurred at about 1:30 a.m. near the intersection of Oak Street and Denny School Road outside of Lebanon.
Leon Wendt, 52, of Alsea, was driving a 1987 Mazda RX7, carrying Lorie Lyne Spinney, 51, also of Alsea, as a passenger. He was westbound on Oak Street and did not stop at the intersection of Oak Street and Denny School Road.
Wendt's vehicle collided with a 2006 Subaru Legacy that was heading southbound on Denny School Road. Kasey Carlson, 27, from Mercer Island, Wash., was driving the Subaru, with a passenger, Lauren Carlson, 24, also of Mercer Island.
As a result of the crash, Spinney died at the scene from her injuries. Wendt was not injured during the crash.
The Carlsons were transported to Samaritan Lebanon Community Hospital, where they were treated and released.
According to the sheriff's office, it appears alcohol may have been a contributing factor to the crash. The investigation is continuing.
At this time, no citations have been issued.
All occupants from both vehicles were wearing their seat belts.
Sheriff's office deputies were assisted by the Multi-Agency Accident Investigation Team, Lebanon Fire Department, and the Linn County Road Department.
Huston-Jost Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for Spinney.
