Scio Baptist Church is having the church's 150th anniversary from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Aug. 30.

On Aug. 28, 1859, 6.5 months after Oregon became a state, circuit-riding preacher Joab Powell and Elder John D. South organized Scio Baptist Church.

On Aug. 30, Sunday School will be held from 9 to 10 a.m.; fellowship from 10 to 10:30, and worship from 10:30 to noon.

After worship, a special dinner will follow for an afternoon that includes speakers, special music, games, and a cake at 3 p.m.
