Oregon Firearms Academy LLC has received the firearms and shooting industry's coveted SHOT Show Range of the Year Award nomination. The highly-regarded honor ranks the Brownsville area school among the top training ranges in the country.
The Academy is one of only nine training facilities in the nation to be awarded the National Association of Shooting Range's (NASR) four-star rating for teaching self defense firearm training to law enforcement and civilians alike.
To meet the criteria of a four-star facility, OFA had to demonstrate excellence in all aspects of business, range, training, management and operations. Ranges are rated on appearance, management, customer service, amenities, customer development and community relations.
The only higher award is the five-star rating. No other range in the northwest has a four- or five-star rating.
According to a statement from OFA, staff credentials are one reason the school continues to receive national recognition like the recent nomination for the 2005 SHOT Show Business Range of the Year Award. OFA's instructors include a decorated military veteran, a retired Linn County Sheriff's Deputy, a SWAT team member, former criminal prosecutor, former gunsmith, a mixed martial arts champion. All instructors are masters in high levels of firearm training.
OFA trains law enforcement officers in a variety of highly-specialized tactical skills, and also trains civilians in the defensive use of firearms. Any given class might include nurses, judges, and college students, as well as 'soccer moms' and law enforcement officers all training in the safe and effective use of self defense firearms.
OFA's multi-room tactical simulator allows students to train in a building that can be configured like a home and/or office for realistic drills.
The Academy teaches all levels of firearm use from the basics of safe firearm handling to more advanced training.
