Sears has a store in Lebanon for the first time in about 20 years.

Chuck and Amy Wyatt and their family opened their Sears dealer store at 2582 S. Santiam Hwy., in the Plaza, on Oct. 9.

The hours are 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sundays.

The store carries appliances, lawn and garden equipment, electronics, mattresses, tools, fitness equipment, vacuums and parts for many Sears products.

It has no clothing or jewelry.

Customers may purchase items through Sears.com and have them delivered to the store without paying for shipping costs.

Customers also may purchase items through the store and have them delivered to another location anywhere in the U.S. through Sears' national delivery service.

The previous Sears store in Lebanon, a catalog store on Main Street downtown, closed sometime in the 1980s.

The Wyatts opened the store in Lebanon because, "We've always loved the Lebanon community and there's such a need for it here."

The response has been overwhelming, Amy Wyatt said. "People are so excited. They say: 'Now I don't have to go to Albany.'"

The Wyatts were both born and raised in the Willamette Valley and recently moved to Sweet Home. They have seven children and the oldest, Charlie, 17, helps out in the store when not in school.

Chuck Wyatt was most recently an auditor who traveled the western United States Monday through Friday for years. Prior to that he worked in retail. Amy is a stay-at-home mom.

Both Chuck and Charlie Wyatt attended a two-week training session at Sears in Chicago before opening the store. In addition, product representatives come to the store and explain products.

The store's phone number is 258-7333.
